Around 90 young singers, between the ages of 17 and 26 from more than 40 countries thoughout the world, constitute one of the most original and important choirs that exist today.
It is a project organized by the International Centre for Choral Music (IFCM) and is patronised by the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM), Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI) and Europa Cantat. The World Youth Choir has been named by UNESCO 'Artist for Peace'.
Every year Juventudes Musicales de España organizes auditions to apply for the World Youth Choir during February-March in several of its Local Associations. After a first selection of candidates in JM Spain, their audition is sent to Namur, Belgium, where an expert committee makes the final selection of singers.
The World Youth Choir meets every year in summer and winter, touring around different countries.
